COACHES

Grace Malacrida

Founder, Director of Rowing

US Rowing Level III Certification

I have coached rowing for over 20 years and have coached various sports for over 40 years. I love sharing my passion for my sport with others. There is so much that I love about rowing, from watching an athlete have that :aha!” moment to the solitude of rowing my single.

Head Coach - Male Team

My favorite thing about rowing is the community. Rowers work together and lift each other up. I love that about this sport.

I used to think winning a gold medal was the best feeling in the world. Now I know watching the people I coach go on to win gold medals is the best feeling. This sport taught me so much and I’m thankful to be able to pass that on!

You’re faster than you think.

I walked on to a D1 team in college with no prior athletic experience and I was hooked as soon as I sat in a boat and I’ve been competing ever since.

I love helping athletes develop leadership skills and confidence on and off the water. I have an “any boat, any seat, any time” mentality and love to cultivate a spirit of teamwork and community.

Rowing opened up so many doors for me when looking at colleges and rowing gave me an outlet - rowing is much more than just a sport to me and I want to provide that same sense of community and acceptance that I received as an athlete to the younger generations.

Rowing is about inches, it is about the inches you can reach for in every aspect of life. That little more you can give when it feels like you are at your limit.

I started when I was 53 on a whim, and got hooked for good when, while we were loading the trailer after my first regatta, Coach Grace, coaching masters at the time, brought me the silver medal we had won in the 8+. I loved racing, the speed, the beautiful sound of the blades clicking in the oarlocks and catching the water at the same time. And going home with hardware?! I was 100% in.

My job is to inpire the athletes to discover hot to trust themselves to surpass the limits of what they think they can do.
